Provocations + Partnerships
This Arts Council funded project engaged 10 childcare providers across the Coventry and Warwickshire region, inspiring and supporting them in the delivery of a creative approach to early childhood learning. The project consisted of on-site training followed by artist visits which responded to the individual needs of the setting.
The aim of the project encouraged active learning approaches to all Areas of Learning and Development, using open ended resources in rich learning environments. The training days took as a framework the principles of the EYFS curriculum with an emphasis on creativity at the heart of the learning process. Two recent graduates were recruited to work alongside the WEAVE team and received mentoring throughout the project. Below is a short case study from one of the settings involved.
Participant Feedback:
The project gave me confidence to make changes to the equipment accessible to the children. I was able to introduce more open-ended resources that I now know can be used for all areas of learning. It also allowed me to find my inner creativity and ability to explore so I could pass this on to the children as they picked up on my relaxed approach towards the resources.
